Been running an FH13 (D13A, Euro-5 spec) on long-haul and, yeah, it’s set up for that job. Cab is where you feel the money went: more space than the older FH, low tunnel, decent bunk, and the seat has enough adjustments that my back doesn’t hate me after a full day. If you get the later trim with the fridge and parking heater, it’s just easier to live in.

On the road the I-Shift is mostly solid. In auto it does its thing, and in semi you can nudge it when you want. I don’t see many gearbox failures unless the truck is already mega high mileage, but I HAVE chased wiring/controls issues on older ones and it’s annoying because it turns into downtime.

Reliability is good overall, but it’s not perfect. The AdBlue/urea dosing and pump stuff can quit even at not-crazy mileage, and that’s time lost. Also on rough roads the disc brake pad retainers can work loose, so you end up checking that more than you’d like. Engine itself tends to go a long way, but injectors/attachments can be early on some newer years.

Main downside: costs. Purchase price is up, and once you’re out of warranty, parts and repairs will hurt. If you’re trying to run it cheap, wrong truck.

Honestly speaking, the Volvo FH13 2011 has its strengths and limitations. The fuel tank capacity provides sufficient range, which is practical for long hauls. The electronic systems, including the Bluetooth connectivity and board computer, add convenience. However, I encountered some complexity in the configuration, and the automated gearbox takes some getting used to. Overall, it's a truck designed for efficiency.

I've recently checked out the Volvo FH13 2011, fitted with the D13 engine and I-Shift transmission. The cab layout is spacious, and the storage compartments are quite accessible. The driving ergonomics seem well-thought-out. However, while the suspension system provides reasonable comfort, it isn't entirely flawless over rough patches. Nonetheless, the reliability of this truck and its performance during transit is commendable.

I've spent a bunch of hours behind the wheel of the 2011 FH13, so a few thoughts. The Euro 5 thing means you gotta top up the AdBlue and keep an eye on DEF levels, sometimes a hassle on the road but I get the point with emissions and all. Seats with memory are alright, though getting the settings just right can be fiddly. I do like the mirrors and extra blind spot views-really helps on busy highways. Engine feels responsive, the D13 pulls okay with full load. In the winter, the engine heater and good cab insulation have saved me pounding on a freezing cab, which is something. Downsides, sometimes wish the ride was a bit smoother on rough bits, and sorting things in the lower cabin storage can get annoying cause accessibility isn’t perfect. But otherwise pretty reliable and no huge issues with breakdowns so far.
